Tilt versus touch: how to steer in mobile racers
Every mobile racer ships with the same debate baked in: do you tilt the phone or tap the screen? I used to be firmly team-tilt, but playing Neon Drift Loop made me reconsider.
Tilt feels immersive and it's great when you're relaxed and stable. On a moving bus, though, it's a nightmare — every bump becomes a swerve. Touch controls are less romantic but far more reliable in the real world.
What actually matters is that the game lets you switch and calibrates well. Neon Drift Loop nails both, so I ended up using touch on the commute and tilt at home on the couch.
My take: don't marry one scheme. Match it to where you're playing. A good racer respects that you're not always sitting still, and the great ones make either option feel tight.
